Mommy's boots

I got some new what Shaun would call "hooker boots" today. After me trying them on for Shaun, Emmy thought they were pretty cool and had to try them on. She put the boots on her feet and then insisted that her Daddy zip them up for her. She was able to walk a little bit in them and enjoyed having them on. She's just so cute! Shaun commented that this gave new meaning to the term, "thigh high"!

Christmas Day

Christmas day was wonderful for us. It was so fun to watch Emmy open her presents and everyone else's too! She would open a present and then want to play with it for a little bit. When she got tired of playing with her new toy (which didn't take very long) she would come over to us and say "another one". She especially loved the LaLa Teletubbie doll that Santa brought her, but is thoroughly enjoying all of the fun presents that she got. Shaun and I also got wonderful presents that we have enjoyed playing with too. This was another scrapbooking Christmas for me, so I'd better get to work on those! I'm way behind. . .

Baking with Mommy!

I love to bake and apparently Emmy has developed that same love too! After watching and helping (kind of) with all of the baking that I did this Christmas she decided that she could now do it on her own. We were making a snowman cake for my mom and was sitting on the counter helping me make it. When it came time to mix it, she started by holding the mixer with me and then pushed me away because she wanted to do it herself! She was able to do it and didn't even spill any! She's getting so big!!! Her favorite part of baking is of course, licking the beaters. Yummy!!

Merry Christmas!

We hope the everyone has a wonderful Christmas this year! We have been busy doing all of the fun Christmas activities. Shopping (which I like more than Shaun!), baking (a lot!), and watching the cool Christmas specials on TV. Emmy really liked Rudolf and I made Shaun watch Nester, the long eared donkey for the first time. This year I even learned how to make Tamales for the first time with my Mom. I'm also looking forward to the annual Christmas Eve shopping trip with my Dad! It has been a fun season so far and the weather has been beautiful. It will be fun to watch Emmy open her presents although she doesn't know that Santa brings them yet. When you ask her what Santa says, she replies "Ho, Ho". She even attempts to say "Merry Christmas". Let's just remember to take some time and remember the birth of our Savior and the true reason that we celebrate Christmas. We are grateful to all of our friends and family for the love and support that we can show each other. We look forward to a great 2008!

Santa's Coming . . . and Emmy doesn't like him!

Last night we had our ward Christmas party. It was a really nice program and then Santa came to visit all of the kids. Emmy watched patiently as Mommy took pictures of all the kids with Santa, BUT when it came time for her to visit with Santa she wanted nothing to do with him! Her Daddy had to pry her off of his neck so we could put her on his lap. We put her on his lap because every kid needs a crying picture with Santa, right? Emmy took it to the extreme though when she tried to get away and then was crying so hard she stopped breathing (only for a second)! She did enjoy the candy cane that he gave her. She gladly said good-bye to him as he left. She even talked about him when we got home. As you can see she thoroughly enjoyed the candy!

Emmy & her cousins

David, Emmy & James

Emmy really enjoyed playing with her cousins when we visited them last week. The older boys loved her and really made her feel like a queen! She's not used to having that many kids around and absolutely loved it! We have never heard her laugh so hard as she watched them play and chased after them. Her younger cousin (by 4 months) also loved Emmy, but not in the same way. He loves to pull hair and while she doesn't have much, he managed to find it! Poor Scott, he isn't trying to be mean, he just loves hair (anyone's). She got to the point that she was scared of him and would run as soon as she saw him coming. When we pulled up to their house from beint out she would tell herself she was "okay" and then say "Hair" as she reached for hers. She still does it when she sees his picture . . .

Thanksgiving with the Jensen's!

We spent Thanksgiving week with Shaun's family in Utah and Idaho. We had a great time. We even got to see the famous (well in Idaho) Preston Festival of lights. For you Napolean Dynamite fans, it's the town where that movie was filmed. Emmy loved the light parade and waived to everyone that went buy. She would point at the floats and say "Pretty"! It was very cold while we were there, something we are not used to! The people that we talked to were saying that they wished it would warm up so it could snow. Too cold to snow??? I didn't know that was possible. . .

Emmy the hair dresser!

Emmy loves to help Mommy get ready for the day. She likes when I blow dry my hair and wants to help me comb it. This time she couldn't reach me good enough, so she climbed up on my legs behind me to reach! It's a good thing that she doesn't weigh very much. . .

It was a beautiful Sunday! Emmy is playing with Abby on the slide. Obviously Emmy is having fun! We are not so sure about Abby.

Carving Pumpkins

Every year Shaun and I carve pumpkins, this year we decided it was time to include Emmy. She loved cutting them, but wanted absolutely nothing to do with the messy insides! She had so much fun and loves to look at them. They turned out pretty good! I just wish she had enough teeth to try out the pumpkin seeds that I made. . . next year I guess!

Too cute to spook!

Emmy actually put on her costume! Last night we had are ward Halloween Carnival. There were kids everywhere! We have over 200 kids in our primary so . . . Emmy looked really cute as a little witch, but her boots were the big hit - thanks Grandma. She loved the cupcake walk and the rubber ducky pond. She also liked walking around and seeing all the kids dressed up. Her friend Joanna was a witch too and they were very cute together. Just think, we get to do it all again next week! Happy Halloween!!!

Hello!

Welcome to our blog! We are so excited to have this blog finally up and running after being inspired by many of our friends! We hope to use this to keep in touch with everyone. We are getting ready for Halloween so stay tuned for more pictures. Emmy will hopefully be a witch this year (she's refusing to put on her costume!). If not we may have to recycle the Hershey's kiss from last year.
