Pretty Girl!

Here's a couple of pictures of Emmy in her Christmas dress. It's a beautiful Emerald green color with valor and satin. When Shaun was getting her dressed for church she told him, "I don't want to be pretty!" I got her to pose for the pictures by telling her that she could take a picture with Abby, hence the last shot. She looked so cute!

Enchanted Snow!

One of the shopping centers here does "Enchanted Snow Fall" on the weekends through Christmas. We took Emmy to see it and she loved it. It was fun to play in it. It's really tiny bubbles, but it does kind of look like snow and the kids loved it. It fell in your hair and stuck to things just like snow, but it wasn't cold! This is our kind of snow fall! :)

Miss Independent!

My baby girl is growing up too fast! She has become a little independent person. Her new favorite phrase is "I told you let me do it!" and she says it with authority.

On Monday we went to my parents house to help them out and do some crafts. When I told her it was time to go home she didn't want to go. She told me she wanted to sleep at Grammy's house! I wasn't sure what to do. I tried to talk her out of it with no luck. I looked to Shaun for reinforcement and he struck out too! Grammy said that it was ok if she stayed, but even told Emmy that Papa was going to bed and that she had things to do. Emmy was determined to spend the night there. She told me that she would be ok and that she wouldn't cry. I couldn't believe it. I wasn't sure how I felt about it. . . rejected, relieved, confused? So, we put our stuff in the car and got ready to go thinking that she'd change her mind as Shaun and I got ready to leave. No luck she waved and hugged me goodbye! Then come to find out that as she was going to sleep she didn't ask for me, she asked for Abby, the dog! It was a nice blessing because I was able to get a lot done without her around, but still. She's not even 3 yet!

Then, to top it all off she's decided that she can get out of her bed all by herself. She has been calling me from her bed to come get her since we took the railing off of the crib 2 months ago. . . What am I to do? Where has my sweet little baby gone? I guess that's just life and part of growing up! UGH!

So Cute!

Isn't Emmy cute? I loved the outfit that she wore to chruch so much that I just had to take her picture!

Temple LIghts

Yesterday we had the opportunity to go to the Temple and do Baptisms. Afterwards we were able to walk around the Temple and see all of the beautiful lights. Emmy thought it was pretty and wanted to touch them. She really liked the manger scene and shepard scene's that they have. I am so looking forward to Christmas this year with her!

Emmy's First Haircut

It took 2 years and 8 months, but we finally had to give Emmy a haircut! Well, we didn't actually have to, but it was looking really scragally in the back and decided it would look better if we did. She did really well and let Grammy cut it. She looks so cute now and I'm hoping that it will promote growth!

Alone time in Bisbee!

Shaun and I took a much needed little vacation and headed to Bisbee Arizona. It's a cute little old west town about an hour and a half south of Tucson. The hotel we stayed in is 104 years old! It's all wood and really cute, oh and by the way, it's HAUNTED! Bisbee was known for the copper mines that closed in 1975. We were able to go on a tour of one of the old copper mines, and I don't know how people work like that. Made me grateful for everything I have that uses copper! :) The highlight of our trip was a ghost tour that we took. It's amazing how many stories of ghosts that there are. I must admit that I did have a little trouble sleeping that night after all the stores and knowing that our room was close to one of them! Fortunately we did not encounter any ghosts! It was asweome to spend some time alone and celebrate Shaun's birthday! There's a new ghost tour in Tucson . . . anyone interested in going???

I caved!

Well, I finally caved and I gave into peer pressure! I read Twilight! I had been resisting since I college ruined the joy of reading for me, but I was finally talked into reading the book that EVERYONE has been buzzing about for months! And to top it all off I did it in one day! Amazing to me since I have Emmy around. It was good and I did enjoy it, but I"m not so sure that reading is something that I should do often since not much else got done yesterday! I will have to finish the series though . . . Now I'm officially one of the club!

Wild About the Cats!

Last year everytime she would see a basketball game she would say Go Cats! It was really cute and funny. This year I taught her to say "Wild about the Cats!" She even shouts in through her megaphone. It is VERY cute. We capped off a busy week by going to support the Arizona basketball team and attended the Red & Blue game. It was a lot of fun to see the players up close and get a feel for the team. I enjoyed it VERY MUCH. Emmy really liked Wilbur and watching the cheerleaders. We had a great time. I know with all that has happened already with the basketball team this year, it could be a long season, but I still say that our family is WILD ABOUT THE CATS!

She looks shy in this picture, but she really
did like Wilbur and kept wanting to see him

Our happy family proudly supporting the Wildcats. I have
sucessfully turned Shaun into a fan too!

Trick or Treat!

Here's our Trick or Treaters! Aren't they cute? This is the first year that we have taken Emmy trick or treating. I wasn't sure how she would do, but she actually did really well. There were a couple of houses that scared her, but over all she did great. She would say "trick or treat" or "happy halloween" and then would say "thank you"! There were a couple of times that she would even tell me, I need some more candy! I think it helped having Allison, Ruben and Tia Cathleen around. The best part is that Shaun and I can share her candy and she won't even know it! Hope you all had a safe and fun Halloween!

Happy Halloween . . . from our Little Flower Fairy!

Wednesday was our ward Halloween Carnival. The kids always have a lot of fun. Grammy & Papa came too!

Pumpkin Fun!

Last night we carved pumpkins as an extended family and had a lot of fun. Emmy helped carve a little bit, but wanted nothing to do with it when it came time to get her hands dirty. Fortunately we had bought her a little one that she could paint and she thought that was great! It was especially fun to have Cathleen there, who by the way is pumpking carving challenged! It's amazing her pumpkin turned out good! We'll get her some help for next year!

Daddy, wanna come to class with me?

Shaun was working from home on Tuesday morning and Emmy decided that she wanted her Daddy to come to her little movers and shakers class. She went up to him and said, "Daddy wanna come to class with me?" It was so cute that he couldn't resist and came. This is the class that I've been taking her to since she was 6 months old. She really likes it, but I feel like she's getting a little bored of it now. I think I'm going to move her to an art class in January, so here's some pictures of her last time in this class with her Daddy. Emmy loved having him there and I think made him participate a little more than he wanted to. After class we had a picnic in the park since it was such a nice day.

We'll Miss You Andrew!

It was a very sad weekend at our house. We got home late Friday night to find out that our dog, Andrew, wasn't in the backyard. The dogs got out of the backyard, and some of our neighbors were able to catch Abby and put her back, but they couldn't catch Andrew. Unfortunately he was hit by a car and had to be put to sleep. We have all been very sad and we miss him a lot. The hardest part is Emmy asking where he is. She asks a lot. I don't think she understands why he isn't here. We've just tried to tell her the truth in hopes that it will help her. She loves the dogs and plays with them a lot. It seems like she had been paying extra attention to Andrew lately. Abby has also seemed to be missing him. We are trying to give her a little extra love and attention to help her cope. Andrew was a good dog who always liked to play and we will think about him often! It's hard to believe that he is gone.

Emmy's Getting Bigger!

Well it finally happened. . . I was dreading it, but it's done. We took the crib railing off of Emmy's bed. Yes she is 2 1/2, but she hadn't tried to crawl out of her crib until last week. When I told Shaun about it, he decided that she was too old to be in the crib still. So, when he got home from work on Friday the front railing came off. I have to admit that I was really kind of bummed about the whole thing because I enjoyed the freedom of having her "stuck" in her bed. I was dreading the thought of her coming out whenever she wanted. I was thinking about struggling with her at nap time to get her to stay in bed and take a nap and just didn't want to deal with it! But alas, I had no choice. I must also add that when her Daddy took off the railing she cried saying, "my crib, don't take my crib away" and wanted us to put it back on! I almost had Shaun talked into putting it back, but he wasn't having it. It was time for her to grow up. To my surprise since it came off on Friday she has not gotten out of her bed! She will still even call me to come and get her when she wants to wake up! I couldn't believe it. She is such a strong willed little girl that I was sure she would take advantage of her freedom. It's actually been a little bit easier to get her to go to nap and sleep because she can do it herself. I don't know if it's because it hasn't clicked that she can get out or if she just likes to yell. Maybe she's just a really obedient kid (yeah right!). Now she tells me that she needs her bed because she's getting bigger. Although, last night she did ask me if she could have her crib back. I hope this post doesn't jinx the luck that we have enjoyed thus far! Maybe now it's time to redo her room decor!

6 Years!

Today is Shaun and my 6th wedding anniversary. Sometimes it seems like it has been a lot longer than that, and other times it seems like there's no way that it could be 6 years! I am grateful for a wonderful husband and father. He is always trying to help me be better and is there for me when I need him. I love to reflect back on our wedding day and think of how much fun we had. We had a wonderful ceremony preformed by Shaun's grandfather in the Mesa Temple and then an awesome reception where fun was had by all! It's the one and only time I've really been able to get Shaun to dance (a non-slow dance)! It has been an amazing 6 years!
I wore tennis shoes because it was going to be a long day. They weren't just any tennis shoe's though, they were decorated to match my dress! It was so fun and comfortable!

Joey turns 6!

On Saturday we went to Phoenix to celebrate Joey's 6th birthday. My mom, Emmy and I made the trek and were able to stay until Monday. It was nice to get away and Emmy LOVES birthday parties. She had so much fun even though the kids were much bigger than her. Joey had a magician come to his party that the kids really enjoyed. Everyone had a great time.

Here's the birthday boy helping the magician do one of his tricks. I love the expression on Joey's face. Classic!

Emmy and Cathleen. Emmy wouldn't leave her alone the whole weekend. She lover her so much. Cathleen had taught Emmy to say the "Captian Jack . . . Hot", but this weekend Emmy told her, "Captain Jack not hot anymore!". Cathleen was crushed!

Emmy would laugh just because the other kids were. It was pretty funny to watch.

Cathleen posing for the camera. Isn't she cute???

Happy birthday Joey!

Circus . . again??

Last weekend was a very busy weekend. We took Emmy to a liitle circus on Friday night. It was actually in a tent! It was nice to be so close, but it was hot and dusty! We are glad she had a good time. Here's a couple of pictures. Thanks for the tickets Dad!
