Prescott . . . Everyone's home town

Or so the signs say! This weekend we had the opportunity to take a trip out of town with my parents to go to Prescott to the "Faire on the Square". It's an arts and crafts fair that they do every year. Neither Shaun or I had ever been to Prescott so it was fun to get away and see a new part of Arizona (yes, I did grow up here, but my parents aren't really travelers. I still need to make it to the Grand Canyon. . . someday!). Anyway, it was a little cooler and very pretty. We spent most of the time in the downtown area and ate at some really good local restaurants. My Dad was not going to let us eat at a "chain" restaurant. It was fun walking around the shops and buying some very unique things. If you ever want to go antiquing it would be a good place to go. We had a really good couple of days. I really treasure this time that Emmy gets to spend with her Grandparents getting to know them and feeling their love for her.

Dad and Shaun reading the history of Yavapi County which is stamped into the concrete in front of the County Courthouse. They're experts now! I couldn't believe they read the whole thing, well actually I can. . .

Emmy, Daddy and Mommy on the courthouse steps. It took ALOT to get her to pose for a picture!

Emmy running around in the park. She had a ball and we were trying to tire her out. Unfortunately it worked the other way around!
Emmy in the hotel room enjoying the special treat of Grandma's bottle of soda. She was messy!

Grandma bought Emmy some really cute wings. Emmy thought she was Tinkerbell and ran around wearing them proudly. She's so cute!

Emmy was ready to take us home! I think Papa almost let her . . .

A bump on the noggin!

So, last night at my parents house Emmy was throwing a little bit of a fit because I would let her Papa give her the whole piece of bubble gum. As she stormed out of the room she must have tripped on the rug and went head first right into the the door jam. I heard a big "THUMP" and then a terrible scream! I picked her up thinking that she was just overreacting since she was already mad at me, but then I saw it. A quarter sized huge bump! The swelling was horrible. We put ice on it, which she didn't like at all, and it did go down. Then we did all the normal precautions with a head injury and she was playing again soon. It is going to be one nasty looking bruise!

Just Peachy

Last Saturday we took a trip with my parents to Wilcox for the Peach Festival at Apple Annies Orchard. You could pick your own peaches (which I coldn't convince my family to do) and enjoy some "peachy" food. We had peach panckes and homemade peach ice cream. Both were really good! We did buy some peaches to bring home and I made jam! I made peach, peach pineapple and strawberry peach. Yummy!

Emmy sitting in one of the peach trees with the kitty that Grandma bought her. She named him "Flelix" after my sister's cat Felix. I think she was more interested in the rocks that were around than anything else. We couldn't even get her to try the ice cream (which is amazing!). It was ok though because that meant more for me!

Mom and Dad enjoying breakfast, pancakes with warm peaches on top and homemade sausage. What a treat!

Fingerpainting

I finally decided to let Emmy get messy and fingerpaint. Fortunately for me it was at Grandma's house! She had a blast doing it and did really well. As you can see she concentrated very hard to get her pictures just right. Yeah for Emmy! Thanks to Ruben for taking the pictures!
