Emmy went BONK!!!

So today, Emmy decided that she wanted to be like her Papa Gomez . . . we were at our play group this morning and she stubbled off of the swing set and went head first into the stucco wall. In doing so, she managed to cut open her forehead. This is Emmy's first injury with blood! I was able to stay pretty calm considering there was blood coming from her head and we were able to clean it up. Then I had the opportunity to take Emmy to her first visit at urgent care. Yeah! Well fortunately she did not need stiches, but they did put some steri-strips on to make sure it healed correctly. She did really well at the doctors and didn't even cry. I was pleasently surprised since I thought it was going to take at least 3 people to hold her down while they looked at it. She's doing great and is happy to tell everyone that she hit a wall and went bonk! Check out the big bandage that she has to leave on for 5 days!

Eggs!

So, I have started a new photography class and our first assignment was to take pictures of eggs. I thought it was a little strange at first, but come to find out it's really common for photography classes. Apparently eggs are a good way to learn about lighting and shadows. Anyway, I was using some foam boards as reflectors for the light and one of them fell on my subject breaking it! The good news is that it turned out to be a really cool picture!

Family Day!

After all of the hard work around the house we thought it would be fun to spend some time as a family. Thursday was a beautiful 70 degrees so we decided to take Emmy to Reid Park and to the Zoo. I hadn't been to Reid park in a long time and boy has it changed. We did a picnic lunch and fed the ducks. Emmy loved it and was not scared of them at all. In fact at one point she was letting them take the bread from her hand or peering over the side of the pond so she could watch them eat it. It was so fun to hear her giggle when they would got after it. She would throw the bread that then tell the "quack quack's" to "get it, right there". They now also have a train that goes around the pond and in front of the zoo that was fun to ride.

As if that wasn't enough fun for an almost 2 year old, we took her to the zoo as well. She loved looking at the animals and running from place to place to see another one. She called the jaguar a kitty and even meowed at it. She thought the rhino was stinky, and as always loved the elephants. I have a feeling we will be going to the zoo a lot more often!

Hard work!

So, Shaun has been off of work since Dec. 19th. It has been nice to have him around and we did a lot of nothing for most of his vacation, but this week we decided it was time for him to do some work around the house. We have been wanting to paint for a while, but just couldn't decide on colors and stuff. We finally picked one and with the help of my mom we decided to attempt a tuscany faux finish for the wall in the living/dining rooms. I couldn't let that be the only project we did though! While we were in the middle of that I decided that I wanted to take down the wall paper in the office and put up a chair rail. So, I had two rooms covered in plastic and the house was a mess! The results were totally worth it though. We love the way the rooms turned out. Hopefully you do too!

Happy New Year!

Happy 2008! We hope everyone had a great new year. We spent the evening with some friends and watched them play High School Musical sing along for PS2. It was very interesting. It kind of made me want to see the movie! It surprised me how much the adults were into it . . . We had a good time. Emmy even stayed up until midnight and called family to say Happy New Year. She said it pretty well too! Thankfully for us she slept until 10 am the next morning! We love our little sleeper!
